MEET PASTOR JUSTIN - Worship and Celebration
Pastor
Justin
Hibbard joined New Hope Chapel’s staff
in October of 2004, having been a part of our church
while he attended high school. Justin has an extensive
background in music, having played the piano since he
was four, and playing other instruments including guitar
and violin. Having sung in the AACS Concert Choir, the
Chesapeake Chorale, the Madrigal Singers, and the Houghton
College Choir, he has also had experience and study
with voice.
After graduating from AACS in '99, Justin went on
to Houghton College to double major in communications
and writing and minor in Spanish. Part of his studies
included a summer term at Harvard University’s
Writing Institute, and he completed a semester abroad
in an intense Spanish fluency program at the Center
for Cross Cultural Studies in Sevilla, Spain.
Throughout college, Justin worked with a number of
ministries, including the Summer Christian Service Corps
in White Cloud, Michigan, as a Teen Center staff member.
In the summer of 2000, he played keyboard in the music
band “Stained Glass.” The band rehearsed
and recorded their album “Soul Surrender”
in Half Moon Bay, California, and afterwards, they toured
throughout the country, playing at tv stations, theme
parks, churches, and included a concert at Solomon’s
Porch.
From 2002-2005, Justin served as the Pastor of Central
Seventh Day Baptist Church in Mitchellville, where he
worked with a number of ministries, including a worship
band, a young adult Bible Study, and two Spanish speaking
churches in Southern Maryland and Northern Virginia.
In December 2005, Justin returned to his alma mater,
Annapolis Area Christian School, where he teaches as
a high school Spanish teacher and the director of a
worship music class.
In February of 2003, Justin married his longtime friend
Karlene from Dodge Center, MN. While Karlene assisted
Justin as a Pastor’s wife, she also finished her
BA in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Maryland.
Like Justin, Karlene has a heart for missions and ministry,
having served the Lord throughout the world in Mexico,
Jamaica, and at orphanages in Romania and Zambia. Last
summer, they worked together as the worship staff at
a young adult conference in West Virginia and jointly
led an October youth retreat in New Jersey. In September
of 2006, Justin and Karlene welcomed the arrival of
their first child – Annalía Noelle.
"I'm so thrilled to be back at New Hope Chapel,"
commented Justin. “I love this Church. They were
a vital key in training me – musically and spiritually.
Pastor Gary has always positively influenced so many
youth, and the Church has rallied with him to create
a body dedicated to so many wonderful ministries. I
believe that God has huge plans for this Church, and
I’m extraordinarily blessed and humbled that I
can be a part of it.” As the Worship and Celebration
Pastor, Justin is responsible for managing the Church’s
music, coordinating and working with the worship teams,
and incorporating new aspects to the worship service
in order to edify the Church and bring glory to the
Lord.
